The largest city in the Loire Valley and once a royal city, Tours has managed to preserve three perfectly preserved old quarters. Old Tours, with its Place Plumereau surrounded by beautiful medieval and Renaissance houses, the Saint-Julien district in the centre and the cathedral district with the archbishop's palace.

This lively town is full of pleasant pedestrian and shopping streets. It's easy to explore on foot, by bike or with a guided tour of the little train.

From the Counts of Blois to the Dukes of Orléans, Blois is of course famous for its castle, built by Louis XII, François I and Gaston d'Orléans, but also for its old town, its cathedral (Saint-Louis), its House of Magic (Robert-Houdin) and its panoramic view over the Loire Valley, which can be admired from the terraced gardens of the Bishop's Palace.

The château in the heart of the town has been the residence of seven kings and ten queens of France, who stayed in its magnificent flats. You can see the Guises room, the Guards room, the equestrian statue of Louis XII riding in arms, the famous spiral staircase in the François 1er wing...
